The Art of the Table: Summer Edition

The Art of the Table: Summer Edition

Thank you to everyone who entered The Art of the Table: Summer Edition contest! I was truly inspired by the creativity, personal stories, and summer moods captured through your table settings.

As the contest host and sole judge, I wanted to share how I evaluated each entry — so the decision is transparent, fair, and reflective of the values behind my brand, Fine Dining 4 Home.

Judging Process

As the founder of Fine Dining 4 Home and a table stylist, I personally reviewed and judged every entry submitted between June 18 and June 30, 2025.
Entries were judged using a custom scoring system designed to highlight both creative expression and practical beauty — the foundation of intentional home dining.

Each participant was scored using the following criteria:

And the Winner Is...

After reviewing all qualifying entries, I’m thrilled to announce the winner of The Art of the Table: Summer Edition: @karlas_littlesparkleofjoy

While all entries were beautifully executed, I chose Karla’s table for its natural color palette, relaxed elegance, and strong sense of summer hospitality — all qualities that align deeply with my design philosophy at Fine Dining 4 Home.

Here's Why This Was the Winning Entry

  • Theme Execution (10/10)
The setting beautifully captures a refined summer garden story — from the fresh florals to the relaxed outdoor ambiance. The hydrangeas and climbing greens instantly evoke the feeling of summer in bloom.
  • Visual Styling (10/10)
This tablescape nails balance and harmony: soft whites and lilacs paired with crisp blue tones, natural textures (like the woven napkin ring), and layering that feels both effortless and intentional. It’s cohesive, photogenic, and magazine-worthy.
  • Creativity (10/10)
While rooted in classic styling, this table brings personal flair: scalloped linens, ribbon-tied candles, and unique glass lamps with pleated shades add unexpected charm. It blends traditional elements with a fresh perspective.
  • Functionality (10/10)
Everything is thoughtfully arranged and totally livable — real napkins, usable dinnerware, and a layout with breathing room. There’s no visual clutter, making the table feel welcoming and calm rather than overwhelming. It’s the kind of table you want to linger at during a warm evening with friends.
  • Storytelling (5/5)
Even without words, the setting tells a full story of summer calm, nature, and elegance. The mood is clear: it’s about gathering, beauty, and slowing down — values that align perfectly with my Fine Dining 4 Home brand.

Honorable Mentions

I can't help but highlight a few exceptional runner-up participants whose entries were filled with charm, creativity, and strong seasonal energy. Some even shared more than one table!

@dishhappy1 - I loved the fresh, bright energy of yellow, green, and lemons — it felt so joyful and summery, like a little burst of sunshine on the table. And that sprig of basil in a tiny vase? Such a sweet, clever touch — simple but full of charm.

@rosas_y_violetas - I was drawn to the rich, deep colors and the abundant garden harvest mood — artichokes, eggplants, and kale created such a grounded and generous summer story. I also loved the choice of golden flatware nd those charming little golden lamps — both added warmth and elegance, making the whole setting feel elevated yet cozy.

@purple_hyacinth_dreaming - I loved how bold the colors were — yet the overall vibe felt calm, elegant, and welcoming. The layering, the candlelight, the vintage plates... everything came together so beautifully. It felt rich in texture but not overwhelming — just the kind of table I’d love to sit at.

@karinskottage - This table feels so charming and full of life — there’s a beautiful sense of movement in every detail. I love how it’s both cozy and spontaneous, like a garden moment caught in bloom. It’s playful, natural, and so full of personality.

@italianfoodtherapy - So rustic and simple, yet full of charm and warmth — it felt like an authentic Italian summer afternoon, full of warmth and soul. I especially appreciated the concept of styling a table just for yourself. That kind of everyday ritual is exactly what Fine Dining 4 Home is all about — celebrating the moment, even when it’s just for you.

This contest reminded me why I love what I do — styling, storytelling, and finding beauty in the everyday moments we create at home. I’m so grateful to everyone who joined and shared their table. And this isn’t the end! I’ll be reaching out to some of the participants soon with a little something special — a chance to collaborate on more beautiful moments styled together!
